FAME- A Double Edged Sword
Marilyn Monroe once said,
"Fame doesn't fulfill you. It warms you a bit, but that warmth is temporary".
And that is so true,
I haven't come across a single person in my life who doesn't seek fame, who doesn't dream about being famous and popular. All of us like to be admired and loved by others in society. We are pleased when people appreciate our work.
I won't believe you if you say that you have never in your life envisaged yourself as a famous celebrity, getting out of a rolez roys luxury car with all your fans screaming your name.
I do myself remember how a 12-year old me had visualized herself being an A-list Hollywood superstar, collecting numerous awards, traveling the world but I do also remember being unaware of the dark & sad parts of this so-called fancy celebrity life because I do not remember me being trolled or people passing hate comments if something goes wrong in that dreamed up world of mine.
Ohh! How could that be because we aren't told about it these parts of their life is safely kept hidden.
I have heard someone say,
"You have no real idea of what it means to be famous until you become famous"
Just how we perceive it, there are a lot of amazing things about fame but there are a lot of challenging things about it too. This makes me describe it as a double-edged sword.
Let me make it simpler,
Although we anticipate fame as being attractive but along with a lot of money, fans & opportunities come's a lot less privacy. Being hounded by the media twenty-four-seven becoming subject to rumors on social media even worse being criticized for something you didn't do with no real friend to share your feelings with.
Lights…..Camera….Fame & loads of action sounds like the perfect blend for a worthy life but ask is it worth being famous?
Here I conclude that,
Fame like most things is a coin with two sides, there's the shiny sparkling & alluring side which is on display for the world to see but one has to flip the coin over to actually see the dark & maddening side of it.
I won't say fame doesn't bring money, attention, glamour, fans, and VIP treatment but let's not deny that it also brings along no privacy, stalkers, negative criticism, and addictive habits.
Lastly,
Fame like all great things comes with a price. A price not many are willing to pay at least not me. And for those who choose to walk the path….May the odds be ever in your favor.
